A special encounter for Cookies. We were not out on Christmas Day. Taking a short break as every where would be very crowded due to public holiday. To avoid the crowd, we decided not to go out and take the time to pack up our place.
Before attending a wedding dinner in evening, we took Cookies out for her walk before we left her alone at home for the night. Make a guess! Who did Cookies met that day? Not her usual doggies friends. She met a rabbit. Cookies was so excited and refused to leave. We got to pull her really tight. If we let go she would chase after the rabbit.
I tried to bring Cookies near the rabbit, she tried her luck to touch that rabbit. Gave that little rabbit a fright.
The next few days, when she passed the place, she would jump up to the grass patch to take a look and snift around. Hoping to see the rabbit again.

Annual Vaccination
Last Saturday, Cookies went for her annual vaccination. When we arrived at the clinic, the vet tech told as that the vet, Dr Quek was on leave. I was so mad that no one called us up to inform us. We were asked to see another vet on duty. Knowing that Cookies is difficult to deal with when visiting a vet, moreover a vet that is new to her. After discussing with Hubby, we went ahead with the vaccination. Is a lady vet. Cookies had no interest and no chemistry with this lady vet, Dr Ho.
When the moment Cookies went into the room, she attempted to jump onto the examination table. Cookies missed the mark as the table top is slippery. The vet got a shock. We wanted Cookies to jump up again on her own but was advised not to. Hubby carried Cookies up the examination table. She was checked by the vet. Listened to her heart and lung condition. Cookies is a little fat according to the vet. This round her weight was 15.6kg. Got to reduce her weight. Go on diet and more exercise. Two different vaccines were adminster to her. One of it was more painful that the other. During the process, Cookies was treated with a bowl of yummy treats to distract her attention. There it went, we burn a hole in our pocket.
It almost lunch time, we went to Portsdown Colbar.

Outing
It had been a long time ago since the last time I updated about Cookies. She is doing fine. Well and happy!

Took Cookies out to the Botanic Garden for a short walk and we had our breakfast at the cafe there. We loved their breakfast set. Really value for money. Beside the table we sat, we met two lovely husky. Cookies as usual not very interested with the husky.
Some pictures of Cookies at the Cafe.

Busy
It had been a really busy long weekend for Cookies and us.

Together with hubby, with took Cookies out for some fun since it was a long weekend. Saturday, Sunday and Monday which was our national birthday (PH).
On Saturday, Cookies tagged along with us the whole day. Started the day around 9 plus in the morning. In the afternoon, Cookies went to Lowean Garden again. The farmer market which operated every first Saturday of the month. This was the third visit Cookies made to this place.
(Pictures taken at the Pantry School Cafe)
As usual, we brought some chocolate, bread, cupcakes (one of my favourite) and some fruits.

(Photos taken at Vivocity Sky Park, Level 3 before Cookies grooming)
Hubby was a little tired, therefore we sat at the pantry school cafe for a drink. I took the chance to walk around and made my some purchase. Cupcakes and bread.
Thereafter, we proceeded to the visit the vet. Cookies was due for her review to check on her skin condition. $$$$ flew away. It was really expensive to see the vet. As usual, we need a little struggle with her to drag her to the consultation room.
After the vet, Hubby and I gave ourselves a treat. Lunch cum tea break. We had waffle and ice-cream at a shop nearby the vet clinic. Wow, the ice-cream and waffle were really big. The waffle was about the size of a dinner place and it was also pretty thick. Both of us were really filled to our brim after we finished.
Last trip of the day, was to visit my aunt new place. We had dinner at her place. We were still very full even it was pretty late. We shared a set of fish and chips.
Time to retired for the day.
Sunday no outing for Cookies. She stayed at home. We took her along to run with us in the evening at our down stair park. She ran with Hubby, 7 rounds.
Monday came by. Another busy day again. Grooming session for Cookies. Good new from the groomer, she was much better . She was praise by the groomer, Good girl. Wow, something nice to hear from the groomer as in the past the groomer really need to take a lot of time and patience just to groom her as Cookies would wrestle and struggle.
(Photos taken at Vivocity Sky Park, Level 3 before Cookies grooming)
Towards the evening, we took Cookies the new premise of US bakery at the former badminton hall. Cosy little place. We spend some time there chatting with the boss of US bakery.
Cookies tried her same old trick which she did at the old premise at K9campus outlet (this particular outlet, no longer in operation). Station herself near the counter and kitchen area. She was treated with some goodies.
That the end of the 3 days of fun.

What is Cookies doing?
Happily and patiently seated at the foot of the dining table. What was she up to? The answer is food. She loves to eat plain rice. She was waiting for Hubby to give her some of his rice on his dinner plate. Hubby was not ready to settle for dinner as he was changing up after arriving home from work.
Hey, she was not hungry. I did feed Cookies. She had an assumption meal before Hubby got home. She was just too greedy and was not able to resist the temptation of the plate of plain rice on the dining table.

A visit to the vet
It due to visit the vet again for Cookies skin condition review. Hubby came back from work and met us down stair to pick us (Cookies and me) to the vet clinic. We kept re-enforcing to Cookies that she going to see the vet since the start of last week. She really hate and fear of going to see the vet.
The whole car journey was fine. A little pull needed to take her into the clinic. Real struggle as every visit we are required to take her weight. Wow she is 14.9kg. Not sure if she is too fat or over weight. Will ask the vet the next round.
Oh! Oh! Her name was called by the vet. It was her turn now. She struggled and wrestle with us. Hubby really got a hard time pulling her into the consultation room. Finally she was in. A little uncomfortable with her surrounding. After a while of "investigating" the environment, we can see that she was much relax. This time, she allowed the vet to stroke her and gave paw to the vet.
Her condition was pretty good before we left her in the pet hotel before we went on a short trip. After our trip, we took her home. We noticed she had more red bumps and she started to lick and scratched herself more. The first few weeks of healing and our effort were gone down to the drain. We were a little upset about the whole issue. Hope Cookies's condition would get better after this round of medication.
Will update about her condition again in about a month time as she will need to be reviewed by the vet then.

Not feeling well
What happen to Cookies again? She is down again with vomiting problem. She started vomiting since Wednesday morning after her walk. She refused her morning food including cheese. Vomited small amount of yellowish fluid. Later in the morning she vomited large amount, dirty the sofa seat cover and toilet. My mummy got to clear the mess for me.
Dinner time, I gave her some rice, potato and kibbles. She ate them all up including half a portion of apple. Not too active the whole night. Late in night she vomited a small amount of brownish fluid and some undigested apple bits.
The next morning (Thursday), look a bit lethargy. She took a quick walk and went home. Refused her morning kibbles. Vomited large amount of yellowish fluid on her day bed, toilet and floor map. Fasted Cookies the whole day. Poor thing right! Not poor thing at all, she herslf also refused to eat.
This morning, she refused to go for her morning walk. Got to ask hubby to take her down to pee
much later before he went off for work. Gave a 1/4 scoop of kibbles. Hope that she will get better by this evening.

Hand shaking ceremony
Yesterday, hubby took half a day off to be home to wait for the TV repair guy to come over to diagnose the problem of our TV. The final diagnosis was TV spoilt. We are going to purchase a new TV.
Cookies as usual bark loudly, wagged her tail at the same time at the TV repair guy when the guy first arrived at our door step. Due to the repair guy is a man, Cookies show off her talent, hand shaking. She loves to hand shake with man. She might became a nuisance after a while. Hubby was talking to the TV repair guy, Cookies sat in front of the guy and keep lifting up her front leg and offer hand shake. That moment must be really cute.
If you are a lady, chances for her to shake your hands is much lesser than man.

Outing
Last Saturday, was a free Saturday for us. We took Cookies out in the morning to the car workshop. Hubby's car was send to the workshop for servicing. When we reached there, the place was very crowded. We took time to have our breakfast at the coffee shop within the same building where the workshop is located. After waiting close to two hours we went back and collected the car.
Off we went. I told hubby that I would like to visit Lowean Garden market. I saw the adv on Expat Living magazine. Hubby agreed to take me there. We detour our route as we got a call from a church member that they needed some thing which we knew where to purchase them. We offer to do so. After dropping the stuff at the church premise we headed to Lowean Garden.
Lots of nice stuffs to buy and tried. They are really generous in the food sampling portion. Not like those at the supermarket. We brought a small bottle of olive oil to dip bread and a box of coffee chocolate. The chocolate is super great! Only cash transaction. Next month, hope to go again.
Just to share this lovely place:
Located at Tanglin place, Lowean Garden (near to Dempsey hill)
Cash transaction only. Remember to bring more cash along
Operate every month, first Saturday
What next! A place for lunch. Hubby wanted to have French food that afternoon. He rang a few restaurants to find out if dog is allowed to be at the outdoor premise. Finally we found a place that allowed. We were so happy about it. Off we went to Holland area. Found a parking lot, tear the parking coupons for an hour. Headed straight to the restaurant. When we were there, the waiter saw our dog, oops no dog allowed. What! We really feel cheated. Hubby was very nice and calm. Accepted the apology from the waiter who heard dog as dark. He got to go for a ear check. Over the phone, nine he heard as five.
If I were the one to approached him. The situation would be different. I would not be that nice to him. Just accepted the apology. Wasted my travelling time, money and fuel, and what more my lunch mood was greatly affected. I felt cheated and angry.
We settled our lunch at Botanic garden. What a day!

A visit to town

Few weeks ago, Hubby took me and Cookies to a French restaurant in town. It is really great that we found another place to have our meals at the same time they allow pet. The restaurant is owned by a French couple. They serve crepes. I try the sweet one that come with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. There are other choice of ice-cream to choose from.
Another visit to the vet
Cookies's skin condition did not improve. The groomer from Pet Lover mention that her skin is not improving from the last time he met her for grooming. So sad to hear that even after we spend time and money to take her for a second visit to the vet to see her skin's problem.
Look like we need to look for another vet.
After reviewing some comments about some vets, we finally took her to Sunset way one of the clinic for another opinion. The clinic was really crowded. Hubby took her down with him first as I had an appointment. I took a cab down to meet them after my appointment. The total damage for that day was really huge. It is really expensive to see a vet. We waiting for almost 3 hours.
The vet was very gentle to Cookies. Cookies gave paws to the vet upon request. Surprisingly she was pretty calm that day inside the consultation room. The vet spend some times explaining the cause and the treatment that he would like to carry out. She is now on medication daily. Look like there is some improvement. The skin area is not that red. She is no longer need to wear the shield. She is really happy about it.
I was worried she might give me hard time to take her medication. My worries are too much. Wrapped the tablets in some cheese, she happily took them.
She will need to be reviewed by the vet in 5 weeks time. Hope every things go well on that day. We had booked an early morning appointment. Hope that the wait will not be too long.

A visit to the vet
Cookies got lots of red patches and spots on her hind legs and back portion of her body. We decided to take Cookies to consult the vet. It was an expensive and unpleasant trip for us and Cookies.

An appointment was made at 3.30pm. We reached on the dot. We waited for a while before we our turn. While waiting for our turn I left Cookies and hubby at the clinic. When I got back they were inside the consultant room. After waiting for a while, hubby rang me and I got in to the consultant room. The vet was not there. Hubby mention that the vet went and took a rest.
There was 3 options to decide for her treatment.
1. Put on a head shield
2. Medication to treat her chewing problem (might due to anxiety or itch)
3. Steroids
We finally decided to get her a shield to wear. Hubby was a little upset about using the shield. As for me I am fine with the idea to let Cookies to have the shield as this was the best among the three options. Prolong medication is always not a good choice. Worst still steroids.
Why was the trip unpleasant to us and Cookies? The bill was expensive and the attitude of the vet.
We try on the shield on Cookies. She struggle a little. She was on the shield for about an hour. Hubby was a little sad that Cookies need to put on the shield. I brain storm a little and turn one of my old pyjama for Cookies to put on. It was not effective as it tend to slip off her when she walked.
These few days she will be on the shield for the whole day till we reached home in the evening.

Caught in Action
What naughty thing did Cookies did this time? Eat chicken wings, enter the kitchen or some things more serious.....? This time round Cookies was caught red handed. Not only did she enter the kitchen which she is not supposed to do so. She even more daring, she stand at the sink, eye on the potato. She was caught by hubby.
No picture was taken. Action came to fast and sudden. I could imagine the look of her.

Mini Gathering at our place
It had been some times that we hosted a gathering at our place. The last one was a party on Boxing day last year. This time round, was also hubby's friend, JC council during his school time. Nice meeting someone of them whom I met for the first time. I was not feeling well yesterday, down with a bad throat therefore did not manage to cook.
We got some common hawker food such as carrot cake, fried kyaw tua and fried Hokkien mee. We also brought some pizza as usual. Every gathering pizza is a food that is always on our menu. May be the next time we should think of some other stuff.
As usual Cookies bark at every one before they enter to our place. A friendly bark. Why do I say so! She was wagging her tail at the same time barking. She was well entertain in some ways. Children running after her, kept her busy moving around the place. When she wanted a break from the children, she would hide herself under the table, chair or sit close to my hubby at the dinning area where was crowded with the guest.
She was keen to play with her favourite ball when I took out for her. When hubby took out the spinning cork, she was interested in it. Look at how excited she was.

Last Saturday, as usual Cookies went to US Doggies Bakery at Turf City. Brought her some usual stuffs that she liked, lamb bread bone and cookies. The food really smell great. Have yet to try how the taste. May give it a try. Yah, me trying it. Even through is bake for dogs, we human can eat too. It is sugar free. Healthy!
That day Cookies got a Lamb bone to eat. Hubby was a hesitate to give her due to the experienced that we encounter. The chicken bone which she ate. The next day she vomited, we could see the sharp pieces of the chicken bone. We will reassure by Auntie Nelly, the bakery lady boss lamb bone is safe for dog. Cookies really enjoy the bone. She could bite and break the bone.
Really amaze by how strong their teeth is!
The same night, Cookies got a little present from a neighbour whom own a Lab. They got Cookies some goodies from the same bakery. Wow now she got some extract goodies to eat.

All Eyes on the table
Dinner time for me. Cookies follow me up and down while I helped mummy to take out the dishes from the kitchen. Smile happily at me, when Cookies saw the plate of pork chop on my hand. She must be hoping that I would offer her a piece of meat. Greedy little one. While waiting for mummy, Cookies looked at me with a pitiful look and wide open eyes.
Guess what i offer her. I gave her a few grains of rice. She was very happy with that. Smiling away after eating the rice.

No outing for Cookies, boring, boring!
It was a boring Chinese New Year break for Cookies. We did not mange to take Cookies out for any fun. Most of the PHs we would try to take Cookies out for some activities. This time round, nothing was done. We both felt tired after all those visitation. I personally find them boring, and some elements of competitions. Relatives were start to compare how your career doing. Where you work and how much you earn. If you are schooling, result, which school you go to....... No end of competitions even among relatives. If you happen to work in not a good job / organization /low salary, poor result, low end school you will see funny expression. That really bad! No room to take a break even.
As for Cookies, their life is so much more simple. Eat, sleep, fun, going for a walk, off leash, run around with freedom and the abundant love from the owner are all they wish for. Not forgetting nice food! Yummy! Yummy! All these will make the day for Cookies.

Aching Aching
Cookies got diarrhea since two days ago. She is getting better today. She woke me up in the mist of my sleep in the early hours of the morning as she wanted to go down to poo. After a her poo, we walked for a while as she was pretty active. I was so sleepy then, after a while got her home and I quickly try to catch some sleep before the designated time for me to go to work.
Before leaving for work, I took her down for a quick walk. She met this golden dog. A stray dog at our place. A lovely stray dog. Cookies chase after her and took the chance to smell her. She touch the dog's tail. The dog got pissed off and bark her.

On Saturday we took Cookies to my aunt's place as we set an appointment to discuss of some things with her. Cookies was very well behavior at my aunt's place. My aunt all along afraid of dog. She was so happy that I leashed Cookies. But a while later, I unleashed Cookies. Aunt was a little panic about it. After seeing Cookies behaviour, she praised Cookies. She also sayang Cookies.
Did not manage to take a photo of Cookies over at my aunt's place.

White Teeth
Cookies went to the dentist on Wednesday. This is her first visit to the dentist. Hopefully, it will also be her last visit. For the procedure to be carried out successfully, Cookies needed to go under GA. We left her at the clinic around 11 plus in the morning. We had a hard time getting her into the cage at the clinic. She struggled and wrestled with us. Finally, she was locked up inside the cage. Off we go.
At 2plus, I received a call from the clinic that we could pick Cookies up at 3.30pm. We pick her up around 4plus as hubby got some matters to attend to prior to that.
Now Cookies got a set of white teeth. Every night, we will need to brush her teeth for her to maintain the condition. Another bomb spend on her.

Lunch at Colbar
Outing for Cookies on Saturday. We had lunch at Colbar, Portdown.
As usual, hubby ate the same item. Hamburger steak. I took fish and chips. My mum was with us for lunch. She had pork cutlet.
Cookies was the only dog there during the period of time when we were there for our lunch.
There was a Caucasian family beside our table. Their son was very interested in Cookies. Cookies had a lovely time, letting the kid to pat her.
Grooming at Pet Lovers
It times due for Cookies to go for her grooming. On Christmas day, we took Cookies to the usual grooming pet shop at River Valley. To our disappointment, the groomer was late for the appointed time and the shop was so smelly on that day. After a long wait, we decided to leave and look for a new venue. The first thought was Serangoon Pet Lovers which is much nearer to our home. Gave a ring, to our disappointment, fully booked.
On a second thought, Pet Lovers at Vivocity. Wow, great excitement! Taking Cookies to shopping centre. To our surprise, they are available.
We had a hard time to coach Cookies. As usual she struggle with the groomer. With a little help, we carried Cookies onto the grooming table. The groomer at Pet Lovers are really patience with Cookies. They done a great job.

Christmas Party
Finally got some time to blog down the events happened the past few weeks. We host a Christmas party on boxing day at our place. Lots of fun and laughter. Not forgetting about the food. At the same time we celebrated a guest birthday. How old is she? We don't know. Nothing was mention about her age.
Did Cookies enjoy herself. I don't think so. My hubby's colleague brought along her dog. Cookies and the dog did not have any chemistry. Both dogs did not seem to be interested in each other.
That night hubby performed some magic tricks which he self learned for the a short period of time before the party. Pretty good!
